Founded in Manly, Sydney, in 2002 by Mark Kelly, Global Surf Industries (GSI) has grown from a small Australian operation into an internationally recognised surfboard company, helping surfers of all abilities find boards that make every session more enjoyable.
Rather than focusing exclusively on elite performance surfing, GSI has built its reputation around making surfing more accessible. Through a collection of distinctive surfboard brands, the company offers everything from beginner-friendly softboards and versatile mid-lengths to fish designs, longboards and performance-inspired shortboards.

Modern Surfboards
Modern Surfboards has its roots in GSI's original surfboard portfolio, evolving from the company's early Blue Surfboards and Modern Longboards ranges. The brand focuses on practical, accessible designs that make surfing easier and more enjoyable. Rather than building boards exclusively for advanced surfers, Modern prioritises stability, paddle power, forgiving outlines and predictable handling. Its designs are developed through GSI's product development team, with each shape intended to suit a particular surfing ability and style.
