Founded by Hayden Cox in 1997, the brand grew from a young surfer’s fascination with making boards into a design-led surfboard company known for combining performance, construction innovation and a distinctly modern aesthetic. Hayden began shaping on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and developed a reputation for thoughtful, responsive designs before expanding internationally. Hayden Cox started shaping at an unusually young age and has spent his career treating surfboard design as aHayden Cox began shaping as a teenager in Sydney and has spent almost three decades developing his own approach to surfboard design. His early work established a foundation in traditional shaping, but his interest in materials and design eventually led him towards the construction innovations that have become a major part of the Haydenshapes identity.
FutureFlex was developed and patented by Cox as a way of creating a different flex response from conventional stringered surfboards. Rather than treating construction as simply a method of making the board stronger or lighter, Hayden incorporated it directly into the performance characteristics of the design.
