The axis is a top-quality boys black and blue surfing steamer that will keep them feeling warm and looking cool, which are equally important aspects for young boys.  The Xcel Boys Axis 3/2mm Back Zip Steamer Wetsuit features a slightly breathable seam [Flatlock Stitched Seam] making it more suited to surfing and diving in warmer climates but will be ideal for surface water sports in colder climates as it will insulate them effectively, even with the breathable seam.  Learn more on seams. 

The important thing to consider when buying a wetsuit is ensuring a snug fit, which goes against the parental-buying ideology of buying something for them to grow into but if a wetsuit isn't snug, it can't work.  It's like turning the heater on but leaving the windows down.  The thing to remember is a good surfing wetsuit will grow with them, neoprene can easily stretch to 150% of its original span, far more than even the most aggressive growth spurt.
