The EX1 Softy combines tradtional hard skimboard construction (E-Glass, Epoxy, and a Foam Core) with a soft EVA outer shell that creates a soft deck and rails. It's one of the most unique skimboards at its price on the market. It comes with extra reinforcement built in to sustain moderate conditions. This board is the perfect step up for riders looking to start riding waves and progressing in the sport yet want a slightly safer* board for learning to skim. Boards created with EX1 Softy construction are available in 3 sizes of our World Championship-winning Hybrid shape sizes. If you want more shape, size, and thickness options, you should choose to bump up to one of our higher end construction options.
Key Features of the EX1 Softy Model:
The EVA Foam that covers the deck and rails is the same material that most traction pads are made of. This creates a board that's slightly softer overall, while providing built-in traction (although traditional traction pads will still stick to the deck).
*While we do feel these boards offer a safer option for riders, skimboarding is still a dangerous sport and the board still has the ability to cause bodily injury. Caution should be used anytime you are skimboarding.
