The Shortie by Chilli Surfboards is a high-performance shortboard that is a little bit forgiving. It's the kind of board you take on an overseas surf trip and when the waves are pumping. It has been developed with World Champion Adriano de Souza and other Chilli team riders. It also featured in 2021 Stab in the Dark with Jack Robinson who stated "this board is easy to ride. You don't have to think, you just jump on it and surf."

James his brief included the words 'user friendly' and 'high performance'. He created a broad generous sweet spot by combining a balanced rocker from nose to tail, a mild single concave (speed generation with drive), and a semi-rounded pin tail (control in the pocket at high speed). This resulted in a forgiving performance shortie that surfers can easily get on and adjust to.

A unique additional amount of foam incorporated into the stringer line creates a wide sweet spot, making it a superb paddler. Although the thickness in the specifications appears to be a touch high when compared to the length and width, this strategic design approach generates a board that allows you to surf without having to think too hard. A medium performance rail balances out the thickness, giving complete control when ridden in vital areas of the wave.
